I believe you want to know what can be taken as snacks which are usually recommended for people with diabetes in between their 3 main meals. These snacks do provide some calories as this is required to prevent hypoglycemia in people on insulin therapy or on oral drugs that release insulin. This can be in the form of crackers, bread, biscuits, fruits, salad, noodles, yoghurt or low fat milk. The exact amount needed will vary with the individual's daily calories prescribed by your doctor or your dietitian and as discussed is only enough to prevent hypoglycemia but not excessive as to give rise to weight gain.
