Bupa launches new EndoscopyDAY
Bupa launches new EndoscopyDAY partnership with 11 medical centres to promote increased use of day case procedures
Hong Kong,10 Jul 2019
Bupa Hong Kong, the leading health insurance specialist, has today announced its new Bupa Direct Access for You (DAY) programme. The first phase of this programme is the EndoscopyDAY partnership, which gives Bupa customers access to eleven medical centres around the territory specialising in day case treatments1.
Day case procedures, such as endoscopies, are already commonplace in Western countries, and are becoming more popular in Asian countries. In England, 91% of endoscopy services are delivered outside of hospitals2, whereas in Hong Kong, 75% of all colonoscopy procedures are performed in inpatient settings, according to the statistics from The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers3.
Bupa’s new EndoscopyDAY partnership will help deliver high quality and convenient treatment to customers. It also supports the Government’s new Voluntary Health Insurance Scheme (VHIS), which encourages day case or ambulatory treatments in both hospitals and clinics. Bupa customers who opt for their treatment in one of these centres will get:
- Efficient and convenient treatment
Customers would not have to experience a lengthy hospital stay after undergoing endoscopy procedures. Instead, they are able to return home on the same day and receive their test results before leaving the centre.
- High quality and professional centres
All EndoscopyDAY centres fulfill specific government requirements and standards for endoscopies1 . They have been accredited by specialist Bupa teams to ensure they meet specific quality and safety standards.
- Comfortable and well-equipped facilities
EndoscopyDAY centres are equipped with modern endoscopy rooms with hospital-grade amenities and facilities to provide the highest level of personalised care to customers.
“We are delighted to introduce the EndoscopyDAY partnership under the Bupa Direct Access for You (DAY) programme,” said Andrew Merrilees, General Manager, Bupa Hong Kong. “Day case procedures make sense for many patients who want to access professional and high quality healthcare services with simple, hassle-free processes. Bupa will introduce more EndoscopyDAY centres and continue to expand our Bupa DAY programme to different medical services, giving our customers more choice, peace of mind, and convenience.”
Our 11 designated EndoscopyDAY centres offer a simplified customer process. Bupa customers can simply present their Bupa medical cards, personal identification document and a valid doctor referral letter to access cashless treatment when receiving specified endoscopy procedures from our network specialists at the accredited EndoscopyDAY centres.
