Many employees believe that the group coverage provided by their employers is sufficient and there’s no need to boost their medical coverage. According to statistics from the Hong Kong Federation of Insurers in 20191, the group medical insurance reimburses about 75% of medical expenses (taking a general ward in private hospitals as an example). In other words, patients will need to pay remaining 25% of medical expenses out of their own pockets. Do you think your group coverage can satisfy your medical insurance need? You might consider adding personal health insurance of your choice for yourself and your family.
