For designated hospitals in Mainland China, you will be comfortably accommodated in a standard private room.
You can enjoy full benefit coverage for hospitalisation at the restricted ward class or lower as stated in the Summary of Benefits. If you’re voluntarily hospitalised at a higher ward class, Bupa will adjust your reimbursement based on the terms of your Policy.
A deductible is the amount you’ll pay towards eligible expenses under the scheme before Bupa starts paying your medical expenses. You can offset the selected deductible with reimbursement from your group medical plan or existing health insurance, if any, or simply pay the expenses yourself. Here’s some examples of the reimbursement calculation:
Example 1
Mr. Chan has enrolled in the “Basic Plan – HK$10,000 Deductible” option under the Bupa Care Bridge Health Insurance Scheme. He received a minor operation in hospital and spent HK$50,000 on the bill. The expenses were 100% eligible for reimbursement. After applying the deductible amount, Bupa paid:
HK$50,000 – HK$10,000 (deductible) = HK$40,000
Mr. Chan offset the HK$10,000 deductible by making a claim under another medical plan. He didn’t need to pay a penny out of his pocket.
Example 2
Miss Wong has enrolled in the “Plus Plan – HK$60,000 Deductible” option under the Bupa Care Bridge Health Insurance Scheme. She received a minor operation in hospital and spent HK$60,000 on the bill. The expenses were 100% eligible for reimbursement. After applying the deductible amount, Bupa paid:
HK$60,000 – HK$60,000 (deductible) = HK$0
As the medical expenses equals to the amount of deductible, Miss Wong is required to settle this bill herself. Subsequent eligible claims incurred within the same policy year will be covered by Bupa in accordance with the policy.
