All you need to know about VHIS
The Food and Health Bureau (FHB) launched the Voluntary Health Insurance Scheme (VHIS) in April 2019. The goal of the scheme is to create minimum standards for certified individual medical insurance plans, giving consumers greater transparency.
With these changes, the government hopes to encourage more people to purchase medical insurance and use private medical facilities. This will help to relieve pressure on public healthcare services. And consumers will have more choices for medical insurance.
As a medical insurance expert in Hong Kong, Bupa has registered as a VHIS provider with the FHB. The effective date of Bupa's registration is 28 February 2019 and our registration number is 00020.
VHIS is new to the market. You might find it difficult to understand, but we're here to help. You can learn more about the different aspects of VHIS at the links below.
